Knowledge Management and Awareness

The aim of the Knowledge Management and Awareness set of activities is to harvest and share knowledge and information on good (and poor) practices to support implementation of renewable energy and energy efficiency investment projects/ programs, and communicate progress made in scaling up access to energy services. These activities will also seek to reinforce regional integration, by developing cross-border cooperation through encouraging and facilitating the formation of regional associations for both renewable energy and energy efficiency market players and enablers and linking them with similar associations and bodies in other regions of the world.

Some examples of Knowledge Management and Awareness Activities in the First Operational phase

• Establishing and maintaining the SACREEE website and a regular news bulletin/newsletter.
• Establishing a web-based information sharing system similar to the ECOWAS Observatory for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECOWREX) ( www.ecowrex.org).
• Creating a database of RE&EE businesses contacts.
• Building an online renewable energy resources atlas for the region and link it to other global atlases.
• Organizing conferences on different RE&EE aspects.
• Publishing the regional status report of RE&EE in SADC together with Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century (REN21).
