79th United Nations General Assembly High-Level Side Event

Mr. Kudakwashe Ndhlukula the Executive Director of SACREEE participated as a speakers at the 79th United Nations General Assembly High-Level Side Event where two pivotal themes for Africa’s development were addressed: Accelerating Women’s Entrepreneurship Development and De-risking the Renewable Energy Viability Gap in Africa co-hosted by the Government of Zimbabwe and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Zimbabwe on 23 September 2024 in New York, United States of America.

The discussions highlighted the critical role of women as key drivers of economic growth and social transformation alongside the urgent need to scale up investments in renewable energy to ensure Africa’s sustainable future. Both themes intersected in their focus on creating inclusive and resilient economic ecosystems, exploring how gender-responsive policies and renewable energy initiatives can work hand in hand to drive progress.

The dialogues explored actionable strategies to empower women entrepreneurs by enhancing access to finance, networks, and skills development. Similarly, discussions around renewable energy emphasized the need to de-risk investment environments by addressing financial, infrastructural, and institutional barriers. Together, these efforts are essential to fostering a more equitable and sustainable economic landscape in Africa.

SACREEE  is proud to have been part of such a vital platform, contributing to discussions that hold the potential to drive long-term change across the SADC region and the entire African continent. Our participation underscores SACREEE’s commitment to promoting inclusive growth, sustainable energy, and gender equity, all of which are crucial for Africa’s economic and social progress. We look forward to continuing this important work alongside global partners to shape a prosperous and sustainable future for the continent.
