The project “Energising Women to Advance the Energy Transition in the SADC Region” is dedicated to empowering women to play an active role in the energy transition across the Southern African Development Community region.
Targeting SADC countries, this project aims to break down barriers for women and girls in the energy sector. With a focus on diversity and inclusion, this initiative offers a multi-faceted approach to empowering women at every level, from professionals already working in energy to entrepreneurs and young girls aspiring to join the energy transition. The project core components' include:
1. Mentorship Programme
2. Capacity-Building Programme for Women Energy Entrepreneurs
3. Scoping Study for Supporting Women Energy Entrepreneurs in Rural Areas
4. Social Media Campaign
This initiative is jointly implemented by the SADC Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (SACREEE) and Global Women’s Initiative for the Energy Transition (GWNET), with financial support from the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), the operational unit of Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC).
