Philimon Kamanga

Philimon Kamanga is the Coordinator for the Improvement of Livelihoods in SADC Member States through the Adoption of Distributed Renewable Energy for Productive Use project at SACREEE.

Mr. Kamanga has more than seven years' experience in the renewable energy sector specifically projects targeting off-grid rural communities. Before joining SACREEE, he worked as the District Coordinator for the Energising Development (EnDev) in Malawi, a global multi-donor programme for energy access implemented by the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ). He also previously worked with United Purpose (UP) and Renew "N" Able Malawi (RENAMA) as a Coordinator of various renewable energy projects in rural communities of Malawi. He has experience in the development of sustainable decentralised renewable energy systems, energy efficiency, climate change adaptation, youth and women empowerment and energy auditing. He obtained his MSc in Management Studies (focusing in Development Administration) from the Malawi Institute of Management in 2021 and his research centred on ‘Sustainability Assessment of Solar Photo-Voltaic (PV) systems for decentralised off-grid energy access in Malawi’. He also holds a BSc in Renewable Energy Technologies from Mzuzu University (2014).
