Lead Technical Expert – ELLA Project
Readlay Makaliki

Readlay Makaliki is the Lead Technical Expert on the SIDA-funded and United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) implemented Energy Efficient Lighting and Appliances (ELLA) Project developing harmonised EE appliance standards in the SADC region.  Readlay has extensive experience of over 25 years in the electricity utilities industry involved in generation, transmission, and distribution working at various levels. 
He has demonstrable skills in Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), substation planning, design, erection and commissioning including power system operations and protection. He also has a demonstrated history of implementing utility’s energy efficiency programmes and initiatives under demand side management. He joined SACREEE in 2018 as Renewable Energy Expert and coordinated the development of the 2018 SADC Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Status Report and other SACREEE programmatic activities. He holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Degree (BEng) and a Master of Science (MSc) in Electrical Power. His interests include power quality, renewable energy, and energy efficiency. His professional membership includes the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
