The installed capacity for Seychelles is 119MW which is generated from imported fossil fuel sources and renewable energy contributes only 5% of the mix. The Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change (MEECC) is responsible for policy planning in Seychelles and the Public Utilities Corporation (PUC) is supporting Government in its vision to have a sustainable energy future for the Seychelles by promoting the deployment of renewable energy technologies. The Seychelles Energy Commission (SEC) regulates sector activities. The Seychelles Energy Commission is the SACREEE Focal Institution.
Seychelles has renewable energy targets of 15% by 2030 and 50% by 2050 and considered sources include solar PV, wind, micro-hydro, and biomass and municipal solid waste. The country has 100% access to energy.
