The SACREEE Business Plan 2019 - 2023 has been approved. The Business Plan is the product of extensive stakeholder consultation, and was reviewed and approved by SACREEE’s Steering Committee – its governing body. Notable stages include its formal presentation to the Member States on 13 February 2019 in Dar es Salaam and final approval for implementation on 4 October 2019 in Johannesburg by the SACREEE Steering Committee.
The Business Plan is designed to guide SACREEE in executing its mandate of promoting sustainable energy to address energy access and energy security deficiency in the SADC Member States. Six (6) flagship programmatic areas have been identified and prioritised for the period of 2019 - 2023:
1. Scaling-up renewable energy with a focus on grid integration and off-grid solutions
2. Energy Efficiency
3. Regional industrialization
4. Investment attraction
5. Cross-cutting: Inclusive energy transition (including clean cooking)
6. Cross-cutting: RE & EE data, communication & awareness raising
